The team of La Stand United and Abbemission Youth for Technology Foundation called on the MCE and members of local government for La Dadekotopon on our latest campaign " SAVE THE YOUTH ANTI- WEED SMOKING AND EXCESSIVE TRAMADOL USAGE". This started few months ago when an article was written in the daily's, when the Narcotics Control Board (NACOB) has identified the La Dade-Kotopon Municipality as having the highest prevalence rate of narcotics use in the Greater Accra region.
Drug abuse is becoming a serious problem. The course of the alarming rate of the abuse especially among the youth can be traced to the high unemployment among the youth, the frustration of highly qualified students not having access for further education and the general economic situation in the country. Marijuana has been identified as the major drug of abuse among the youth in La but lately Tramadol have been added to the mix and it's abuse it's not something we can close our eyes on because it's really destroying our brothers and sisters. The age of incidence of abuse of drugs is relatively low, 12 -14 years and experimentation has been found to be the main reason for the start of the abuse. The MCE said the assembly would give much attention to fighting social challenges including the use of illicit drugs.This will definitely reduce the rising incidence of drug abuse among the youth.
Lest I forget,Drug abuse, smoking and alcoholism can cost you your job, your health, your family and gradually lead to your death.
Let’s all be involved in waging a successful war against this doleful menace. A stitch in time, saves nine.
